Book Description

WHEN PEOPLE ASK ME what I do, I usually answer, “I’m a writer-director
and I teach these creativity workshops.”
The last one interests them.
“How can you teach creativity?” they want to know. Defiance fights with
curiosity on their faces.
“I can’t,” I tell them. “I teach people to let themselves be creative.”
“Oh. You mean we’re all creative?” Now disbelief and hope battle it out.
“Yes.”
“You really believe that?”
“Yes.”
The Artist's way - Julia Cameron

The Artist's Way is a self-help book by American author Julia Cameron. It's a 12-week program, each week addressing a specific thing which usually come in the way of our creativity. It is written for people who want to unblock there creativity: to write, to paint, to sing etc. Or people who want to be a little more creative in their daily life. The author addresses this journey as a spiritual path to creative recovery.

Weekly Check-in
Week one: Recovering a sense of safety.

I wrote morning pages everyday this week. I put my journal beside my bed and did this immediately after waking up. It was quite a unique experience. First few days were not easy as I couldn't think of what to write and ended up ranting about people but as time passed I started writing more about myself and my passions.
I felt more productive this week and I felt assured within myself. Some blurts did kick in but I managed to turn them into positive affirmations.

I went for an artist date, had tea and read some pages of my current read. It was a beautiful experience that I have never had. After the date I felt refreshed and happy.

I wrote a short story this week for the first time in my life, was quite surprised. It wasn't perfect but it made me happy so I decided to keep writing like this. Tasks were really fun, some made me emotional and some made me happy. I loved this week doing all this.

Thankyou for reading.
